Privacy Policy for “OriginallyListedAt for LinkedIn Jobs” Chrome Extension
Last Updated: May 11th, 2025
Thank you for using “OriginallyListedAt for LinkedIn Jobs” (the “Extension”). This policy outlines how the Extension handles your information.
1. Information the Extension Accesses:
- Current Web Page URL: When you click the Extension icon on a LinkedIn job page, the Extension reads the URL of that current page. This is solely to identify the LinkedIn Job ID.
- LinkedIn Cookies: The Extension, through a content script running on LinkedIn job pages, reads your
JSESSIONID
cookie (or similar session cookies) for linkedin.com
. This cookie is used by LinkedIn to identify your logged-in session. The Extension uses this cookie only to make an authenticated request to LinkedIn’s own internal API to fetch job posting details, mimicking how your browser normally accesses this information.
2. How Information is Used:
- The LinkedIn Job ID (from the URL) and the session cookie are used to make a direct, local API request from your browser to LinkedIn’s servers to retrieve details about the specific job you are viewing, including its
originalListedAt
timestamp.
- This timestamp is then converted into a human-readable date and displayed to you within the Extension’s popup.
3. Data Storage and Transmission:
- No Data is Stored Long-Term: The Extension does not store any of the information it accesses (URLs, Job IDs, cookie data, API responses) beyond the immediate processing required to display the date in the popup. Once the popup is closed, this information is not retained by the Extension.
- No Data is Transmitted to the Developer: The Extension processes all information locally within your browser. None of the information accessed (URLs, Job IDs, cookie data, API responses, or any personal identifiers) is sent to, collected by, or stored by the developer of this Extension or any third-party servers controlled by the developer.
4. Third-Party Services (LinkedIn):
- The Extension interacts directly with LinkedIn’s website and its APIs by making requests from your browser, using your existing logged-in session with LinkedIn. The Extension’s functionality is dependent on LinkedIn’s services.
- Your use of LinkedIn is governed by LinkedIn’s own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
5. Changes to This Privacy Policy:
- We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
6. Contact Us:
- If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, you can contact us at: Contact via the Chrome Web Store listing.
